All the polished
ally cases were white with corrosion and were polished to a mirror
finish. The centre stand was curved like a banana and had no feet
to support the machine. This had to be heated and bent back into shape
and new feet made and welded to suit. So too were the footrests which
were heat-treated and bent back into shape. The frame locating lugs
for the side-stand and centre-stand were oval and had to be drilled
out and bushed to fit. The swinging arm bushes were seized and were
cut out. Engine crankcases, rocker boxes, and head were blasted to
remove years of grime. |

The frame
and most other parts were welded and professionally painted in 2-pack
acrylic, or plastic coated, along with the cylinder barrel. The petrol
tank was pressure tested for leaks and found to be sound. Stainless
fasteners were mainly used throughout the restoration with a few exceptions,
which were zinc plated. The cylinder head was fitted with new valves
guides and unleaded seats. A new wiring loom was purposefully made
to suit the machines electrics which sported a new Boyer ignition.
The speedo was unrecognisable and nothing was salvageable except the
case. |
